ORION AND THE WINTER MILKY WAY
This ultra-wide portrait of Orion, featuring Jupiter covers nearly 90 degrees of the winter sky to the south - a very captivating area.
In addition to the conspicuous and unmistakable figure of Orion at the bottom of the image, the winter Milky Way stretches from the bottom-left to the top-right, littering the scene with beautiful hydrogen-alpha emission regions, such as the Rosette and California Nebulae. The contrasting blue hues of the Pleiades can also be seen to the right-middle. Jupiter is in the centre, suspended against the rich backdrop.
